"President Jonathan May Be The Last President of Nigeria If..."- Igbo Leaders Voice Out

A group of prominent Igbo political leaders, called the Igbo Leaders of Thought have said that President Goodluck Jonathan may become the last president of a united Nigeria as unnamed Northern political leaders have continued to sponsor Boko Haram activities.

In a statement by its Deputy Secretary, Evang. Elliot Uko, and the Leader of the Igbo Women Assembly, Chief Mrs Mariah Okwor, released after a meeting on Wednesday, June 4, in Enugu, the group led by Prof. Ben Nwabueze said if politicians from the North East and North West continue to sponsor the activities of the Boko Haram sect, they would only succeed in tilting the country towards disintegration, thereby ensuring that Jonathan becomes Nigeria's last president.

The group described the terror campaign as an ethno/religious war sponsored by those seeking to take control of the presidency.

"We wish to draw the attention of the international community especially the United Nations, African Union and ECOWAS, to the ongoing daily attack on the foundation of the Nigerian state by a ruthless, barbaric and well oiled Islamist jihadist killing machine, is a political war funded and waged by ethno/religious bigots who believe that they are born with divine right to rule others perpetually," part of the statement read.

Insisting on the restructuring of Nigeria along six regional federating units, the group called on the confab members to establish the foundation for regionalism, saying the national conference would have failed if they failed to do so.

"The continued existence of the country cannot be guaranteed if the national conference fails to adopt regionalism," they said.

11-Year-Old Boy Stabs Over 20 Kids Inside Classroom

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly stabbing 20 school children at Moreton Community School in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom on Monday.

Police reports state that the youngster attacked fellow pupils with diabetes needle pen, forcing them to have hepatitis injections.

It was gathered that the injured children were taken to hospital for hepatitis inoculations and blood tests after being jabbed with the diabetes finger-prick pen.

West Midland Police told journalists that none of the Year Seven students had been seriously hurt.

Reports say the accused boy, whose name was not disclose, was questioned after he was arrested at his home in Low Hill, Wolverhampton, on Tuesday.

He was however, bailed pending further inquiries scheduled to hold next month.

One of the mothers of the victims, whose 12-year-old son was jabbed with the diabetes pen, which acts as a blood-sugar testing device, said: "It was worrying and shocking to be told what had happened.

"I had to sit in the hospital for four hours while my son had a blood test and a hepatitis B injection.

"When we came out the waiting room was full of other students."

Carl Williams, headteacher at the school, called the incident "deeply concerning" and added: "As soon as we were alerted to it, we contacted parents of the children affected and spoke to the local police.

Moreton Community School caters for over 700 boys and girls aged between 11 and 18 and had suffered a drop from "outstanding" to "requires improvement" following an Ofsted inspection in 2012.

The school was criticised for "inconsistent" teaching but pupil behaviour was described as "good".

20-year-old Nigerian student murdered in South Africa.

While Nigerians are still in shock and are demanding justice over the gruesome murder of a Nigerian student ‘Toba Falode, the son of veteran sports presenter Aisha Falode,

Another Nigerian student, 20 year old Naizi Evah has been murdered in South Africa.

The family and friends of a Ms. Evah are beginning to receive answers to the mystery surrounding her death at her school residence in South Africa, last Saturday.

20 year old Naizi Evah, a 3rd year Systems Engineering student of the Vaal University of Technology near Johannesburg was found stabbed to death in her room last Saturday.

A suspect, who was known to the deceased was arrested and granted bail pending the outcome of investigations.

As the school grappled with a murder that never should have happened, friends gathered in a memorial service to pay tribute to her, although most friends were too distraught to speak.

Her brother described her as a beautiful, intelligent and God-fearing and also appealed to the students to remain calm and focus on assisting the security agents with information to help resolve the murder.

Describing the circumstances surrounding her death, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Gordon Zide, said, “On Saturday 24th of May, we received a call from one of our Directors of Residences, informing us that there was a murder that has taken place at one of the hostels.

“The suspect is indeed our student, his origin is from Zimbabwe. They are conducting a DNA test for both the deceased and the suspect and currently they are awaiting the result which will come from Pretoria.”

The said suspect is her boyfriend of 3 years, whom friends allege was abusive to the deceased.

One of Naizi’s female friends, Rip fumelo Mukhavele, said amid tears, “I know that she dumped Trevor because Trevor told me that he messed up and wanted to fix things. They always dumped each other and got back together…but I never took it serious.”

Naizi’s brother, Michael Evah, confirmed to newsmen that the Police had indeed taken up the case but expressed their determination to see it concluded.

“We do not want a situation where the case would die without trace”, he said, even though the suspect has denied culpability.

While investigations continue in order to solve the case, Naizi Evah’s remains would be returned to Nigeria on Tuesday, June 3 for internment.

Spokesperson for the Vaal University of Technology, Michael Kuboni, said in his tribute speech, “The memories of Miss Naizi Evah stay in our hearts and may her soul rest in eternal peace.”

For those of us that don't know it yet CBN just issued a circular that henceforth ATM CARDS (including credit and debit cards) trapped in banks other than (bank) where your account was opened should be perforated before returning to the parent bank.

What this means is that if you are using 'BANK A' and makes use of ATM in 'BANK B' and your card gets trapped , you can no longer make use of that card as it will be perforated (destroyed) before returning to your bank.

Now the implications:
I was personally shocked when i saw this circular considering the CASHLESS POLICY that the CBN is trying to implement.
I feel this will discourage the use of ATM somewhat if the big question is not addressed properly, which is...

WHO PAYS FOR THE ATM CARD RE-ISSUE?

Many banks charge a thousand Naira for re-issue of cards.
An average Nigerian is not ready to be paying N1,000 for each time their ATM gets trapped in another bank's machine.
ESPECIALLY knowing for sure that it is not their fault anyways.
Moreover there are stress level involved in getting new cards sometimes.

So the final question would be, is this taking our cashless policy pursuit forward or backward?

SAD: Man Beats 12-Year-Old Nephew to Death in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Mr. Paul Obiefule, for allegedly beating his 12-year-old relative to death.
The relative, who was identified as Onyedikachi Mbanozo, was staying with Obiefule, a bricklayer, and his wife on Omitola Street in the Agege area of Lagos.
It was learnt that Onyedika, as the boy was fondly called, was the son of Obiefule’s wife’s brother.
It was further gathered that the boy was beaten to death on Monday evening around 8.30pm, while the neighbours reported the matter at the Pen Cinema Police Division on Tuesday.
It was said that Onyedika, who was attending Irewole Primary School in Agege, could not go to school for several weeks before his death as a result of a sickness sustained from series of beatings.
One of the neighbours, who identified himself as Mr. Oje Owode, told our correspondent that the boy died from an accumulation of floggings which he received from his aunt’s husband.
He said, “The man (Obiefule) usually flogged the boy like an animal. Most times, we tried to intervene, but he would not listen to us. The boy fell sick several times from Obiefule’s merciless flogging. The last sickness was for over two weeks. And then on Monday again, the man beat the sick boy, and locked him up in the room.
“Later, we just saw that Obiefule and his wife went out of the house and did not return until around 5am. We noticed that he put a big bundle on his shoulder and smuggled it in with his wife.
“We did not know that the boy had died in the evening and they were looking for where to dump him all night. That was when we raised the alarm and reported him to the police.”
Another neighbor, Mr. Fatai, said Obiefule usually used hammer, chisel or a screw driver to inflict pains on the deceased.
It was learnt that as soon as Obiefule was arrested on Tuesday, his two boys were taken to a c primary school on the next street. When we visited the school, the proprietress, who did not want her name to be mentioned, said Obiefule’s two boys had not been spared from their father’s wickedness.
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the arrest of Obiefule in an e-mail and added that the police had commenced investigations.

POOR TIME MANAGEMENT
Time they say is money. Just ask Dangote or B.gates. Who has ever looked back at how much time they had spent on the couch and thinks, "time well spent?" Time is precious and depending on how well you use it could make you prosperous. Perhaps, you could have invented Facebook and not our dear friend, Zuckerberg. If calculations were made at the end of our lives, some would have actually lost half their time to sleeping, gisting, or even eating.

INVESTING IN A RELATIONSHIP
Relationships bring happiness as well as sadness. But have we ever thought of how much hinderance it could bring especially when there is way too much devotion to it? Investing too much time and effort to a relationship as opposed to one's career would ensure that you reap more from what you give the most attention. If you try utilising a quarter of the time you use in thinking of your partner, you'd probably have become an inventor and more creative as well. Always remember this: success has many friends and failure...none.

NOT GOING FOR YOUR PASSION
Watching the movie, 3Idiots would change your perception on why you should go for your passion when choosing a course of study in a tertiary institution. Most people later in life would regret sacrificing what they enjoy doing for the salary they would received. As the saying goes, "make your passion your profession and you would never have to work a day in your life."

SAVINGS
Most people would wish they were not a charitable ATM machine and a generous central bank when they were much younger. You might have been richer than Adenuga now if you had saved more, don't you think?

HANDWORK
You probably won't be that strapped for cash if you had a handwork you are good at. Handworks like catering, fashion designing, barbing, shit business (yeah, shit biz ...cos someone became a millionaire through it.),hair-dressing, etc, weren't appealing to you when you were a youth, but as one age, you start to realize the importance of having something you are good at that no one can take away from you.

MAKING THE RIGHT FRIENDS
Tell you what; one true friend is definitely worth more than a multitude of acquaintances. Most simply would have wished they chose quality friends instead of trying to win a popularity contest. Your success tomorrow may depend on the kind of friend(s) you made yesterday.

KNOWING GOD EARLIER
This may look too religious, but the importance of God to mankind cannot be trivialised. Some might have been more successful, made less mistakes, or the right choices if only they had encountered God earlier. The good news here is; it's never too late.
